The Voltage:
The Ymmind V60 Style Brewer makes a very clean, crisp cup with no sediment, but allows you to taste the subtle natural tones of the coffee bean. The V60 method can be very technical and manual, so this product isn't for everyone, just those who love to tinker and figure out how to get one of the best cups of coffee to relax and enjoy with. Though most methods with this brew style are very technical and ratio-driven, it's one of the styles that gives you the most control for your daily brew!
Coffee Time

The thing I love about coffee is that there is a variety of ways to brew it and a whole world of different coffee beans to try, so you will never get bored unless you let yourself get bored. I know for me, I love trying different brewing methods all the time, and I must say I rarely, if ever, use my old drip coffee machine nowadays. Instead, I prefer the taste of a Chemex-style brew, so if you're interested in my review on the Chemex-style brewer I use, which is the Agogo Pour Over Coffee Maker, please click HERE.
The Ymmind V60 Style Brewer

My experience with the Ymmind V60 Style Brewer is a good example of why tinkering with the brew style is so important. When I first got it, I wanted to use it just like my Agogo pour over however, I found out quickly it doesn't work that way. I was trying to make too much coffee and filling the V60 with too many grinds, and pouring too much water too quickly into it.
Once I got that outta my head and started using it the way it was supposed to be used, the flavor profile that came out of the V60 was so much better for sure. I learned the hard way that this style of brewing is definitely for smaller, more personal batches, with its max capacity at 21oz. So for me, this became more of a Sunday morning routine where I can take my time and enjoy it instead of a Monday through Friday on-the-move brewing style for sure.
To brew with the Ymmind V60, you will need a kettle (gooseneck is preferable), coffee grinder, coffee beans, V60 coffee filter, and the V60 system(V60 dripper and charafe). These are the products I use to brew with the V60. However, you can even get more technical and use a scale and timer if you really want to break it down and control the brew. I do not do all that because I have found a way that works for me, and I have no need or want to get that technical so early in the morning lol.
The coffee flavor profile that I have noted when I brew with this method is a clean and crisp cup with no sediment, with a lighter taste, but you can still taste the subtle notes of the coffee itself. I did hear that the V60 method works really well with light roasted coffee because it holds more of the natural tones and flavors within it. This is something I will try in the near future!
The Grind & Brew Method

The Grind:
The grind that is recommended for the V60 Brew style is a medium to fine grind. A rule of thumb to go by is that the lighter the roast, the finer the grind; the darker the roast, the coarser the grind. However, this is a very important part of the brewing process, so you may want to fiddle around with the grinds till it produces the flavor you are looking for!
Stan's Steps To Brewing With The V60:
Heat up water & fold the filter along the crimped edge, then insert it in the V60 dripper.
Pre-wet the filter with hot water (toss the water used to pre-wet) & grind coffee.
Pour ground coffee into the pre-wet filter and pour hot water into the ground coffee until it's just above the coffee grinds.
Swirl it inside the V60 dripper and let it bloom for about 30 seconds.
After it's done blooming, pour water into the V60 dripper till it's about half full and let it drip until it gets to about where the coffee rests, then add more water.
Repeat until you have made the amount of coffee you need.
Drink and enjoy!
So this is the way I brew it, and yes, I know it's a little bit rough, but this is the way that works for me without all that weighing and timing. The amazing thing about coffee brewing is that even within methods, there are a lot of variables and conditions that you can play with so you can make the perfect cup of joe for you, this is my goal at the very least (hehehe). Take my method and build on it, try new things, bring a scale and timer, try it all until you find the best method for you!
The Good & The Bad

The Good:
Great Tasting Coffee- A clean and crisp cup with no sediment, with a lighter taste, but you can still taste the subtle notes of the coffee itself.
Quicker Brewing- The smaller, great-tasting batches of coffee are made at a quicker pace, normally within 3 mins.
No Sediment- This brew method keeps your cup nice and clean with no grit.
The Bad:
More Complex- This method can become more complex as you dive deeper into it with scales, ratios, and timers, which may scare off some newbe coffee aficionados.
Smaller Batches- Even though it is quicker, you still have to get used to the smaller amount of coffee this method produces
Manual- The V60 is definitely for those who want more control over their brew, and that comes with a more manual approach.
Final Thoughts

The V60 has its positives and negatives, but it's a good choice if you're looking for a brewer that makes clean, crisp coffee that allows you to take the subtle nuances of the bean in smaller brews. I find that the V60 is more for those days when you can just relax and enjoy a great cup of coffee. So, if you're shopping around for your next coffee brewer and want to get a little more technical and hands-on with it, this may just be what you're looking for!
