The Voltage:
The Targus 17" Dual Fan Lap Chill Mat is a lightweight wedge-shaped mat that helps create a very ergonomic-centered experience while using your laptop. The Targus will help you stay productive for hours on end with comfort in mind and without distractions from things such as RGBs or dials. This mat comes with two super quiet fans and 4 rubber stops to hold your laptop in position.
The back is made out of neoprene that's very comfortable however they do tend to get warm after a few hours more from body heat than heat from the laptop. With all that said and done if you are looking for a tool to help you get your project done with great ergonomics and is quiet and distraction-free then the Targus 17" Dual Fan Lap Chill Mat may be just what you're looking for!
Do You Really Need A Laptop Mat Or Cooling Pad?

So, I just got myself a new laptop, and I tried using it just on my lap, but it just felt uncomfortable and too low. I had to raise my knee up to give it a more comfortable angle and I ain't about to do that for a long period of time. Not to mention it restricts airflow to the unit and can cause a whole host of issues if it starts overheating.
I would definitely suggest getting yourself something to increase the angle at which you use your laptop so you don't get premature fatigue from stretching your arms lower for typing and whatnot. When looking for one of these products to purchase I would look for something with a lot of ventilation to help with airflow and some good fans. So in summary I would say the laptop mat or cooling pad is a great product to invest in to keep yourself and the laptop comfortable!
The Targus 17" Dual Fan Lap Chill Mat

The Targus 17" Dual Fan Lap Chill Mat is very comfy and has the perfect angle for me to rest my wrist on the laptop in comfort. The easy-to-use Targus is very straightforward in its design and functionality, it is pretty much just plug-in and you're good to go. The Targus is simply a comfy wedge with ventilation and dual fans attached to it and that's all I was looking for since this is my work laptop and am not planning on gaming on it.
The fans do seem a little on the weaker side so if you are planning on doing some gaming or some other power-hungry activities on your laptop you may wanna look up something with some stronger/more fans. This Chill Mat works perfectly for my needs however so gauge what you need it for and go from there.

Build & functionality

The Targus 17" Dual Fan Lap Chill Mat is a lightweight wedge that helps create a very ergonomic-centered experience while using your laptop. It has a very comfortable back that's created out of a material called neoprene which is a synthetic rubber that gives it that soft feel, but it does start getting a little warm after a while just off body heat. The top has a hard plastic meshing that helps let the laptop breathe. The dual fans are positioned in the upper center of the hard plastic meshing to help disperse the heat that comes off the laptop.
The top of the chill mat has 4 rubber stops that are used to hold your laptop in place. I however was a little suspicious of it at first worried my laptop would shift, but I must say it holds it pretty well actually. Though I would feel a little more comfortable if they had a solid edge to hold it in place, but the stops do what they are supposed to and they do it better than I thought they would.
The Targus comes with a hideaway USB-A connector that connects right to the laptop and you are off to the races! The USB-A connection is not only a hideaway when you don't need it but the cord is long enough to where it can be put on the left side where mine was default or you can feed it through the wedge and shift it to the right side. This gives you the ability to connect it to whichever side fits best.
The Good & The Bad

The Good:
Ergonomic Design- The wedge design fits my needs perfectly and I don't have to worry about it collapsing or shifting while I'm moving it around because it is set to that shape.
Ventilated Mesh Design- The design gives it more room to breathe and keep that heat at bay.
4 Rubber Stops- The rubber stops though not perfect do a great job at holding my laptop in position.
Multipositional USB-A Cord- The ability to be able to move the USB-A cord to either the right side or left side is a great feature for being able to customize your setup.
Hideaway USB-A- Being able to have somewhere to put your USB when it's not allows you to keep your work area or your lap a little less cluttered.
Dual Fans Are Quiet- The fans are super quiet and I feel very little vibrations on my lap from them.
The Bad:
The Fans- The fans aren't the strongest so if you are planning on gaming or something more on the intensive side you may have to find something with stronger or more fans.
Neoprene backing- Though I find it very comfortable for a time it does tend to get warm after a while which I think is from your own body heat and not the heat that comes from the laptop.
Final Thoughts

The Targus 17" Dual Fan Lap Chill Mat is exactly what I was looking for and works great for me. I love the fact that it doesn't have all the dials or lights on it because it's simply for working. It's a tool to stay productive in comfort and not get distracted by tinkering with it because it has 2 settings on or off. I sometimes even use it with the fans off because of the ergonomic feel of it.
Thought to be fair the Targus may not be for everyone, because if you plan on using it for gaming it may work but I would have you look for a mat or cooling pad with more fans. If you are looking for something that is adjustable in height this is not what you are looking for because it's built to stay at this angle.
However, if you are looking for something to be able to get work done without all the distractions and won't cost you an arm and a leg then this may just be up your alley. So if you're like me and need an ergonomic tool for productivity I don't think you can go wrong by giving the Targus 17" Dual Fan Lap Chill Mat a try!
