The Voltage:

The Cuisinart Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill Coffee Grinder is a decent place to start if you're just getting into fresh ground coffee and brewing. With its large bean hopper and grind chamber you'll be ready for the next get-together. The 18-grind selection gives you the ability to tinker with it and get the grind you are looking for. However, there are some issues I have found with this product such as grind consistency and how messy it is, so just keep that in mind if you are looking to purchase the Cuisinart Coffee Burr Grinder.

Cuisinart Coffee Grinder Start Buttoon

There is nothing like fresh ground coffee beans in the morning and with that comes coffee grinders. I felt like my old coffee grinder needed a refresh so I decided to give Cuisinart a try. The model I got is the Cuisinart Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill Coffee Grinder model# DBM-8P1.

I really wanted my next electric coffee grinder to have a burr mill inside of it and this looked like it was calling my name. So follow me as I put it through its paces and find the good & the bad!

First-hand Experience

Cuisinart Coffee Grinder Front View

When I first used the Cuisinart I really liked how simplistic it was but still gave you options to grind it the way you needed to. The bean hopper had a larger capacity than I had in my old one and the same goes for the removable grind chamber. However, at this moment I normally brew with my Agogo Pour Over coffee maker ( Click Here for more information on this brewer) so I'm not going to need all that grind space (yet).

While using it I did notice that the grinds seemed off for example, the first half of it seemed to make a fine grind and I have it ticked 3 ticks away from being all the way towards coarse (which should be at medium) so that the grinds and the time is about right with my pour-over. I did eventually dial in my grind after testing it for a while but it just seems a little off.

The Cuisinart Grinder is actually very easy to use all you gotta do is pick your grind by twisting the bean hopper then choose how many cups you want to grind using the slide dial, hit start, and then wait for it to auto-shutoff. The grind chamber is huge the only problem with it is that I noticed it does get some coffee stuck to the front of it every time I run it.

The slide dial is interesting because it doesn't really measure cups it does it all by what how long it thinks it should take to make that measurement. How strong or weak you like your coffee this is another setting you'll have to play around with.

The last thing I noticed with the Cuisinart is that while I was grinding I felt like the consistency was off. I keep finding powdery grinds mixed in with my more coarse grinds.

The Good & The Bad

The Bad:

Like always let's start with the issues, one such issue is that the grinds for me seem off. It may just be a me thing or maybe it was made to be that way however, I don't understand why I am almost all the way too coarse to get a grind that matches what I was brewing before.

Now let's talk about how messy it is. Whenever I use this grinder I always find grinds on the base where the grind chamber rests not to mention how grinds stick to the inside of the grind chamber. Let's just say if you do get this you will be clean it quite often.

The Next thing I want to talk about is that the consistency of the grind is a bit lacking. I find a lot of powdered coffee mixed in with my grind and if I was using a French Press it would probably have more sediment in the brew. Because my brew method is different I don't notice as much because of the filter I use.

The last thing is really just a minor complaint but I feel like it should be discussed. Why doesn't the start button turn the grinder off when I press it again? You would think they would have added that feature but no I have to move the slide dial all the way to the left for it to turn off.

The Good:

Now let us talk about the good stuff I found while using the Cuisinart. The first thing I want to talk about is how easy it is to use. Its simplistic controls are a great thing when you're still in the fog of waking up in the morning and gotta grind up some beans.

Then there is the large capacity in both the bean hopper and the grind chamber. This will come in handy if you are making a huge amount of coffee, such as at a gathering or at work. I love that the bean hopper is so big because I can get rid of those pesky little coffee bags a lot faster.

Though I feel it's a little off I do like that it has 18 different grind selections. It gives you plenty of room to dial in on the grind that works for you.

Conclusion

Cuisinart Coffee Grinder Burr

The Cuisinart Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill Coffee Grinder is a decent starter coffee grinder if you're just looking for something to grind up your beans easy peasy. However, I do have to say I did find a lot of issues with it from grind consistency to how messy it is. That being said I think that this is a good starting coffee grinder for someone just getting into fresh grinding beans in the morning because of its capacity and ease of use. If you are a more experienced coffee connoisseur you may want to look elsewhere.
