The HyperX Pulsefire Haste Review (Wired)

The HyperX Pulsefire Haste is a lightweight, smooth mouse with a honeycomb shell that helps create that lightweight feel without sacrificing durability. It has 4 PTFE skates attached to it, which really make this mouse glide like you've got a mouse pad made of ice. The mouse also comes with 4 pieces of custom honeycomb grip tape that fits perfectly around the mouse to give you that extra hold.
The cable that is attached to this HyperX mouse is made of a very light but flexible paracord material that stops any involuntary movement you sometimes get with the heavier-duty cords that gaming mice usually have. If you need to change your DPI on the fly, all you have to do is hit the top button above the scroll wheel, and it will cycle through four settings that you can adjust to whatever you like and/or need through the HyperX Ngenuity software!

First Impression

The first thing I noticed while using the HyperX Pulsefire Haste was just how lightweight and smooth it was. I've never had a mouse with PTFE Skates on it before, but let's just say they may become one of my new favorite things when it comes to a gaming mouse. It is my first time using them, and I'm not quite sure how long they last, but they do come with 4 replacement skates for when they eventually go out.
Not only did the HyperX come with 4 replacement skates, but it also came with 4 pieces of custom grip tape built for the mouse. When I started to install them, I was looking for something that told me which goes where and whatnot, but it didn't have anything explaining it however, the great thing about these grips is they seem to only fit where they are supposed to go. The Grips does feel nice and comfortable, and the grips are made to match the honeycomb look of the body.
The next thing I did was put it to the test by playing a game, and it was an FPS (First Person Shooter). I do have to admit that while playing this game for a while my hand never got tired or uncomfortable, thanks to its lightness and its extra grips. I do like that you can change the DPI by just hitting the button above the mouse wheel, which allows you to play around with it until you find the one that works best for you.
While I was playing the game, I did notice that I was playing way better than I used to, and I haven't played this game for months, so I'm not saying that this will happen to everyone, but it did work very nicely for me in that regard. I did, however, notice that there were a few incidents where I accidentally hit the left click (which is the shoot button) while I was aiming. I don't know, maybe it was because of the way I hold the mouse (The Claw Holding Style) or because the HyperX has a hair trigger, or maybe a bit of both.
I do quite a lot of photo editing and I normally use a trackball mouse because I love how comfortable it is and the way it feels while editing. I tried using the Pulsefire while editing, and I do have to say I quite enjoyed it. The mouse was smooth while moving the dials, almost like it was gliding on ice, so no issues fine-tuning pictures. I liked it so much that I put my trackball away for a while, because I wanted to see how long this mouse would stay comfortable to use for both editing and gaming if I used it at all times.
The Hyperflex USB Cable is a great feature that helps keep the mouse working well, because if it had a heavy-duty cord mixed with the lightness of this mouse, I don't think they would play well together. This cord is so light that I don't think I will ever have to use a mouse bungee to keep this mouse from moving by itself. In fact, I haven't noticed any movement at all from the cord while using the HyperX Pulsefire Haste.
Software

The software that can customize this mouse is called HyperX Ngenuity, which is the software that controls all of the HyperX gear that you may have. In HyperX Ngenuity, you can control just about every aspect of this mouse from the color, buttons, and even the sensor. Though I do have to say you really don't have much room to customize the buttons with this mouse because there are only 6, but if you want to change to the back, forward, middle click button, or the DPI, more power to you, but I prefer them to stay default.
Under the light tab, you have 3 effects to choose from, which are solid, breathing, and cycle as well as one triggered effect, which is fade. Next to that tab, you have the Opacity bar, which increases or decreases the brightness of the light. The last section you have on this tab is the color, which allows you to change to color of the light to anything on their color wheel.
The next tab is the Button tap, where you can customize the button layout for the device you're using; however, on this mouse, you don't really have many options to customize. To do this, you have to click on the button you want to customize on the picture in the software, then it gives you different options to choose from for the button you selected on the screen.
Lastly, we have the sensor option, which allows you to change the DPI for the 4 saved settings you have on this mouse, which are color-coded from Red, Blue, Yellow, and Green. The neat thing is that you can change any of these to whichever setting you would like, so say you want red to be your gaming one, you can adjust that to a higher DPI, then say if you wanted to make the blue one into work mode. You have the ability to change your DPI from 200 all the way up to 16,000, which gives you a lot of options!
The Good & The Bad

The Good:
Smooth- The skates make this mouse feel like it's skating on ice, it's that smooth!
Lightweight- With a weight of 59g, it is the lightest mouse I have ever used.
Software- Though this mouse is a little limited in the customizability department, I still feel like the software is great for customization.
200-16,000 DPI- it's always great to have options.
HyperFlex USB Cable- It makes it so that it doesn't have any movement at all from the cord itself!
Grip Tape- So far I love the grip tape, it really adds a comfortable and more stable grip.
The Bad:
Only 6 Buttons- It really holds itself back with only 6 buttons because each one of those has a great default. I would love to see one or two more buttons to help create a more custom use.
Accidentally Click- I don't know if it's me or the way I hold the mouse, it may be just me, but I've accidentally fired while I was snipping on numerous occasions.
Very limited RGB Light- This is not an issue for me, but I feel like it may be an issue for some; the only thing that lights up is the mouse wheel.
Final Thoughts

The HyperX Pulsefire Haste (Wired) is a great mouse that I've been able to use for hours without much fatigue at all, and the glide on it is amazing. It feels great in the hand with that extra grip tape added, and the lightweight cable does what it's supposed to do: stay out of the way and not cause any unwanted movement for the mouse.
This is a mouse for any gamer who's looking for a light mouse that's great at what it does; however, keep in mind that it only has 6 buttons, so there really isn't much room for customizing it too much for gaming needs. Not only is this mouse great for gaming, but I love using it for editing pictures and just getting work done. So all in all, I see the HyperX Pulsefire Haste as a workhorse that can get just about any job you need it to do done without any fuss.
Needless to say, I really do enjoy using this mouse, and it will probably be my main mouse until I find something else that beats it! Which I don't think will happen anytime in the near future!
