HyperX Cloud III Wired

I'm on the hunt for a great pair of headphones to do both gaming and just chillaxing while listening to music simultaneously. I've tried so many headphones and I've come to really like HyperX products so I thought I would give the Cloud III a try. It's crazy to think that this company known for making high-performance memory has ended up making some of my favorite and most used headsets around today! Without further ado let us dive a little deeper into the HyperX Cloud III Wired Headphones.
Build & Comfort

The HyperX Cloud III Wired Headset that I purchased came with its trademark red and black build with the HyperX logo on both ear cups. The Aluminum frame gives it a great feel and some extra durability for a bit more longevity. The ear cups are very well built with deep ear wells that add comfort and have no noticeable ear squishing which will keep you comfortable for hours on end. The ear cushions are made of a very comfortable memory foam and the added support of the headband with that extra padding will come in clutch for those extended gaming sessions.
The Controls on the Cloud III headphones are very barebones which is a good thing that way you are not fumbling around trying to fix settings on the headphones itself. On the right side you have your volume control wheel and on the left side you have your mute button and your detachable mic. The neat thing about the mute button is that when it turns on a red LED light on the mic turns on as well so you can tell just by looking down at the mic if you're muted or not. I find that this alleviates a lot of confusion and is a great feature to have.
The Cord that attaches to the dongle is also connected to the left side and that dongle has a USB-C connector that attaches to your PC or whatever you're attaching it to. However, don't be dismayed if you do not have a USB-C connection because it comes with a USB-C to USB-A adapter that will allow you to plug it into a regular USB-A connector! The only problem I have with the cord is that when it is all connected together it is one long cord (1.5m) so it gets in the way a lot or just gets caught on everything.
Software

The software that pairs with the HyperX Cloud III is called HyperX Ngenuity and for someone who really loves tweaking settings and trying to make it customize settings for myself, I felt it kinda lacking in features and ability. When you first open up Ngenuity you would hit the headset option on the left and then you get a bunch of options.
The furthest left column has your volume control for both headset and microphone as well as a switch that turns them off and on. Then on the bottom of those options you have a Mic Monitoring switch but try as I may I haven't been able to make that one work.
The center Column has the DTSX Spatial Sound switch which I keep turned on. Then on the furthest right you have the column with all the Equalizers. I don't know if it's just me or maybe my hearing just isn't the best but they all sound the same to me. Needless to say, I really don't use these settings very much they do however give you the option to create your own preset so at least there is that.

Mic & Sound Quality

One of the most important aspects of a gaming headphone is to make sure that the mic sounds great for all your creative trash-talking and outbursts. The Cloud III does not disappoint in that regard in the least. When I tested the mic everything came out clear and crisp. Even when I use the plosives (P or B sounds) or S's sounds it still comes out clear and I hear no distortions.
The sound quality also comes out crisp and sounds very good. While I was gaming the directional sound was coming in perfectly clear and I could tell where each sound was coming from. When I was listening to music it sounded great and balanced however, I do have to say I feel like it is lacking in BASS. This is a personal preference of mine I for one love BASS and I was a little let down by the level of BASS you get. Other than that though the sound is great and I have no other complaints with it.
The Good & The Bad

The Good:
Comfortable- The memory foam and extra padding added to this headset really elevates the comfort for those long gaming sessions
Excellent Mic & Sound Quality- From directional sound to communicating with your friends the HyperX Cloud III comes in clutch!
Mute Indicator LED- The mute indicator on the mic itself is a great advantage because it eliminates the confusion of "Am I Muted" that I tend to have at times.
Detachable Mic- I really love this feature because sometimes seeing the mic in my peripherals bothers me and having the ability to take it off is a great feature.
The Bad:
BASS- The Bass is a little underwhelming for me and I wish they would have added a little more oomph.
Software- The software just seems a little redundant and some of which I wasn't able to make work or I just couldn't tell the difference (Equalizers).
Final Words
The HyperX Cloud III Wired is a great gaming headset with great sound and mic quality. This headset would be great for just about any gamer from those who live and die for FPS or even those who want to get lost in an RPG. The Cloud III will become an amazing accessory that you will find yourself using every day to enjoy and relax! I know I will!
