The Voltage:

The Elecom Huge Trackball Mouse is a great tool to help keep you productive with it's 8-buttons and smooth movement. The Elecom is on the bigger side so if you have smaller hands it may not be as comfy for you and it does get sticky when you first start moving the trackball. That being said it has a great ergonomic feel that allows me to use it all day without any fatigue and great software that allows you to customize it to become more efficient. All in all, it was a great purchase for me and one I'll be using daily for a long time to come!

Elecom Huge Trackball Mouse Review

Elecom Huge Trackball Mouse

I thought that the Elecom Huge Trackball Mouse looked very interesting when I first saw it. It has a futuristic aesthetic, and that's what made me pick it up initially. I of course, picked up the wired version and it comes with a rather large 52mm trackball that glides effortlessly. The Palm rest and the button layout work harmoniously together to give an efficient and comfortable way of operating your laptop or PC without the use of a laser/optical mouse. It's a very practical device for those who have limited space and the desire to use something other than the standard gaming mouse.

First Impression

Elecom Huge Trackball Mouse palm rest

When I first received The Elecom Huge Trackball Mouse I didn't realize how large it actually was until I took it out of its box. When I plugged in the device I was pleasantly surprised at how smooth and accurate the trackball itself was on the Elecom. The palm rest is a great addition to this setup and helps keep your hand where it needs to be for optimal usage (as long as you have hands on the larger size). The palm rest has great support and the right amount of cushion to allow you to use this trackball for an extended amount of time without any fatigue. I like the DPI switch on the bottom left of the mouse for easy access just in case I get the urge to change it on the fly. My first impression of The Elecom Huge Trackball Mouse was a very positive experience with little to complain about.

Button Layout

The Elecom has an 8-button layout that is customizable by using the downloadable software to do a whole list of actions as well as gestures. The Layout is user-friendly and laid out in a way that makes it efficient and increases productivity. I like how my hand naturally puts my thumb on the left click and my ring finger on the right click so they are good for whenever I need them. The Elecom also has a scroll wheel on the left side that has a tilting option that allows horizontal scroll. The button layout starting from the left of the mouse is the left click then your scroll wheel, then above that you have your back and forward buttons. Once you get past those two the the buttons on the top left right next to the trackball are the Fn1 and Fn2 keys which are custom keys for that side. Now on the left of the trackball you have your right click then your Fn3 key which is the custom button for that side of the mouse. However, these are the default settings and can be adjusted using the software.

Software

The Elecom Huge Trackball Mouse comes with free downloadable software called ELECOM Mouse which allows you to customize and make this mouse your own. In this software under the buttons tab, you have the option to adjust your 8 buttons as well as the tilt left and right of the scroll wheel to an array of actions. The Button tab also gives you the ability to tailor your mouse pointer speed and the horizontal scrolling speed to match your taste. The next tab is the presentation mode but to unlock this tab you have to set one of your customizable buttons to "Presentation Mode ON/OFF". Once you have that you can set up your mouse to use in a presentation situation such as with a PowerPoint which comes in handy in work environments. Then the last tab is Gestures which allows you to set up gestures for your mouse for further customization.

The Good & The Bad

Elecom Huge Trackball Mouse Sensor

The Elecom Huge Trackball Mouse is a great tool for getting stuff done! However, there are some issues that I have come across while using The Elecom, let get into those shall we? First off this is a rather big piece of equipment and it seems to be made for larger hands for sure so to some that may be an issue. The biggest issue I have with this trackball is that it gets a little sticky when you first move it then it gets super smooth. This really irks me if I'm trying to make minuscule movements and it jumps further because of the stickiness of the trackball. That can be very frustrating but once you start moving the trackball controlling it becomes much easier.

The Elecom has some great features that align with this product and make it one of my favorite trackballs to use as of now. The first feature that is impressive is the smoothness of the trackball (after the initial movement) and that probably has a lot to do with the three 2.5mm ruby bearings that help the ball move effortlessly, not to mention the size of the trackball helps as well. Then the palm rest is ergonomic and has just the right amount of cushion/support while you are using the device which helps keep your hand from feeling any strain. The 8 buttons that comes with the Elecom creates a more proficient tool that will help you get more done quicker. The last thing I thought oh that's nice, is the dpi cursor on the bottom left, which gives you the options for Low(500 DPI), Medium(1000 DPI), or High(1500 DPI) that you can change on the fly because it is right there!

Conclusion

Elecom Huge Trackball Mouse

The Elecom Huge Trackball Mouse is a great tool to help with your productivity while still being ergonomic and efficient. The Elecom is my go-to trackball that I use on the daily because of how well it does what it's supposed to. If you are looking for a great comfortable as well as customizable trackball then I don't think you can go wrong with the Elecom Huge Trackball Mouse! I know I'll be using this for a long time to come!
